Good enough end to the year....

Ok, well, I know it should be "ecstatic end" to the year....

BUT - at least, I got a phone call yesterday afternoon from the insurance agency. Seems the other guy accepted his responsibility for the accident, so our deductable has been waived.... :) We don't gotta pay nothing for the truck to get fixed!!! And I can stop worrying about it being a fight.....

Now, all I gotta do is shake this nasty flu bug that bit me on Tuesday.... been coughing and sore throat and feeling miserable all week......

But today is somewhat better :) Still the cough, but I woke up feeling way better, and I mostly slept through the night, too.... :)

Hope everyones New Year Celebrations are safe and fun, however you celebrate!! Me? Probably the same way I celebrate everyday - I'll probably be in bed by 10 :)

Update, such as it is.

I've been asked for an update....

I still know nothing much.

I was told that I'd be contacted if there were any questions. I was told that if I wanted, I could phone them Friday. I was told that if I didn't want to wait, that I could go ahead and get the truck fixed, paying our deductable. I was told that if judgement was in my favour, we'd be re-imbursed for the deductable.

So, we went to a dealership..... They will call us, likely sometime next week (holidays and all, don'tcha know) when we can bring in the truck.

$1751 and change damages.

That's all I know..... And I'm just sooooo tired.........

Need to figure out what project to work on - I don't have anything on much of a deadline.... Thinking of frogging the treeskirt. I looked at it, thought what I have would make a better doily done in thread. Will probably try doing some basic solid dc type tree skirt. Maybe. If I feel like it. I haven't seen any patterns already out there that I like, either in knit or crochet. Lots of quilted/appliqued/sewn ones....

Maybe that's what I'll do. Abandon the crochet skirt, and make a fabric based one for next year.

Am taking a bit of a break for the holidays....

So...I won't be posting for a bit.

I still need to take pictures of and type up the pattern for the mitts - DH loves them so much, I haven't seen them since they've been completed, lol.

I did a couple towel toppers and dishcloths for a gift exchange thing I'm doing tonight - did take pics, but haven't downloaded. Did an "ornament dishcloth" for the NCB dishcloth group (do I have a button? Time for housecleaning in the new year, I guess....). Also pic taken but not loaded.... the pattern is from "harvest moon" blog... hopefully, you can find it. If not, bet it will be on the www.knittingpatterncentral.com site already!! That is such a great place to find patterns - along with the sister site of www.crochetpatterncentral.com

So, today we go to get the truck checked out by the insurance company.... hopefully, that goes smoothly, and we have no trouble getting it fixed and getting a courtesy car and all that. Will let you know after the holidays how it all turned out. Unless it doesn't go well, and I need to vent. Then you'll hear from me sooner.

BUT - the DH is home all this week, and all the next, so my 'puter time is limited....

Hope everyone has a great holiday, a merry Christmas, and I wish all my readers (how many of you are there? three, four? :) All the best for the new Year.

See you all next year!!

Why I am behind.....

Or, I'm a statistic....Or, This is going to be a miserable Christmas....Or, Talk about your plans getting messed up.....

So, I haven't been typing up the pattern just yet. My chicken scratch notes are ready for translation, and the second mitten is nearing the home stretch - couple more rounds, and I decrease for the top of the hand, then all I need to do is the thumb, which goes quickly enough. Then I need to weigh the leftover yarn, so I can tell how much I used..... Otherwise, I could have started everyone out on their way to a pair. But no point in buying more yarn than you need. Oh. You guys like any excuse to buy extra stash, too? Well, I started out with three fifty gram balls of Patons Classic Wool. I have no intention of felting these mittens, nor of worrying about needing to wash them regular, like with wool socks. DH will likely only be wearing them a couple times a year (are all men like that? won't wear gloves or mittens daily?) Anyway - Any worsted weight yarn will work. Wool, wool blend, acrylic. Handspun. Whatever.

I will be measuring a guage - I think I knit a bit on the tight side - but I can usually measure up to guage of other patterns.... Not sure how you will be able to make use of that bit of information at this stage....

Oh, right - what I've been typing instead.....

I'm not a typist, first of all. Way back when, a lifetime ago, more years than I care to admit to sometimes, other times feels like it has been even more than reality, I was in highschool. I took typing in grade 10. Or tenth grade, depending on how you phrase it.... lol. Anyway, I only took typing, because I more or less planned to further my education after high school, and either attend University, or maybe go into journalism. Or become a writer. Something like that. So, I took typing, so that I wouldn't have to pay someone else to type out my essays etc. I barely paid attention to the parts of the class that taught about secretarial stuff, like proper way to do business letters etc. Just paid enough attention to pass the course. Didn't care if my typing speed was "up there" etc. There was a minimum speed we had to reach to pass. I think I just made it.....

Years of playing around on computers and the internet and email have improved my typing skills in recent years. But, I'm still relatively slow. Especially compared to my big sister, who's been a secretary for many many years. So, I was planning on enlisting her assistance to type anyway.... But, I also thought that I *could* take some time and maybe start on the pattern...maybe work on typing out some of it.

Well, turns out, that any spare time I have to type, I gotta do a detailed report. On an accident.

See, the other day - Wednesday - I think I mentioned in my post that I had to do some errands, as well as it being laundry day. Or maybe I didn't - I haven't gone back to re-read what I wrote that day. Sometimes I re-read my blog, so I know what to update on, other times, I just come straight to the page to create a new post. Anyway, I was on my way to the chiropractor. I was approaching a controlled intersection - I had a green light - and just as I was almost there, a vehicle at the red light, decided to start moving (well, the driver decided, not the vehicle, but you know what I mean) and make a left turn - into me. I did try to stop, I mean, really,w hen I saw him start to move, I *did* hit the brakes, but since I was like feet from the intersection, the accident was inevitable. So, anyway, this guy gets out and starts yelling at me, and insisting he had a turning light, and that I was in the wrong, etc . etc. etc. Fortunately, another person who was also at the red light from the opposite direction, came over to me and gave me his business card and told the driver that hit me that I had the green and the right-of-way. Also, a police car pulled up from behind me somewhere (don't know how much or what he saw) and told the other driver to calm down. I think - I didn't hear everything he said, but he did talk to the guy. So.... The guy finally did calm down, and we exchanged information etc. Now, where I live, it's gov't owned vehicle insurance -no private stuff, and basically, you can't put a vehicle on the road without insurance. (OK, some people fail to renew, and try to get away with it, but that's a whole other issue) The guy kept insisting that I had to have gone through a red, that he had a turning light. Now, I've been going to the chiropractor for - oh, about 15 years now. Roughly. And he's been in the same location all that time. And, this intersection happens to be one that I have passed through countless times in my life, from all four directions. For various reasons. There is no turning light from any direction at that intersection. Never has been. Wish there was. So. This happened on Wednesday. Yesterday, while trying to get a bit more information from the adjuster (my appointment to take in the vehicle to be assessed was not until the 21st - then we'd need to make arrangements to get it fixed, etc.... talk about your bad timing......) I was informed that I need to bring with me a detailed account of what happened including diagrams because there was a dispute against my claim.

I had a green light, and I have a witness...... I'm not too worried. BUT I am terribly inconvenienced. Frustrated. Annoyed.

Mind you, I was able to get the adjuster to move the appointment up to Tuesday, the 19th.

Oh, right - no injuries, btw. I did feel a bit of stiffness later on Wednesday, but was thinking yesterday, that I wonder if the fact that immediately after the accident, I went into the chiropractor as planned, and since it happened pretty much right in front of his office (he didn't witness the accident, just the aftermath while we exchanged info and the cop talking to me and sitting there until we were done) I wonder if getting the treatment so quickly helped to prevent any problems? Hmmm..... interesting thought.........

Has it really been that long since I shared Pictures??

Guess I better fix that....

Progress on the mittens. I took these pictures yesterday, then did a few rows of knitting last night, but this is basically where I am.

The one mitten is FINISHED completely. All ends are woven in. The second mitten, as you can see, is past the thumb gusset increases, and all the thumb stitches are on the holders.

So, I turned the done mitt inside out.... And then did a close up of how the pattern is supposed to show, but for some reason, the dark yarn is twisted together a little more than the light yarn, so they seem to have been knitted tighter. Trust me - they aren't - I have checked and rechecked.

Now, it was not my intention to make these mittens reversible. It could be done, though, if someone wanted to.... I just worked the top closing by grafting the inside light grey together, then the outside dark grey. So, there is a ridge on the inside at the top. I've been thinking about how to change this - a three needle bind off might work - but the ridge would still be there, just not visible. I have another idea, that I'm going to try with the second mitten. So, they won't be an exact match, but they *are* prototype, and they *are* being knit for warmth more than looks, and they *are* for my DH who will love them just because I knitted them for him. So I'm not worried they aren't a perfect match.... But this is what the inside of the top looks like for now.

hm. won't load.... wonder why? OK, I've tried to load this picture several times. I tried resizing it, I tried typing, I tried adding other pictures.... I just can't seem to make this one appear. I don't know why. I guess it just doesn't want to be seen - it is shy. Well, maybe after I experiment with mitten number two, I will be able to post pictures of both mittens side by side. Sorry about that......

Now, for a project I made a couple years ago. And the reason that I chose the colours I did for the mittens - well, I wanted to go with black, but they only had one ball, and I wasn't positive if one ball of yarn would be enough, so I had to go with dark grey. Anyway, this is a "Seaman's Cap" - a free pattern, from the website for Needlebeetle. (googling for seaman needlebeetle should work if you are interested....) And of course, now that I see them here, it looks like the hat is dark grey and light grey.... but really, it *is* black and light grey. HEY!!! my picture suddenly appeared, while I was typing the word "grey" at the end of that sentence...well.... I'll go move it to the right part of the story ****

I also believe it has been a while since I posted some cute kitty pictures!!! Last Wednesday, I managed to get myself running late on a few things, and was rushed at the laundramat. I was doing bedding, and a sleeping bag, and I didn't quite get everything dry. So, I had a few towels draped around the living room so they wouldn't be folded and put away damp.... Mica and Ashleigh didn't care if they were a little dampish, obviously....

Sorry about the blur factor - DH took the picture. BUT- the good news about that - one of the reasons for the fight with the camera settings had to do with the flash not working properly. Well, I found out the other night, while trying to take good pictures at the Christmas party, that we'd accidently turned the flash off. *DUH* I turned it back on - and now we can take decent pictures again!!!

*** For those of you who are reading but don't blog yourself yet - when I type a post up, and insert pictures, they always load right at the top of the post, then you go and use your mouse (I'm not very good with keyboard operations) and click and drag the picture to where you want it to go in the text.... :)

So - my next picture taking project is to get pictures of some more of my past projects - like the hat - that I will have to raid closets and dresser drawers (does any one call it a bureau anymore?) and such to find them :) And progress pics, of course.....

I'm behind....

This was one of those weekends....

Instead of doing a bit of housework, then working on (and hopefully finishing) the mittens on Saturday, I went shopping. Bought myself some dress pants - there is something to be said for living in blue jeans. Good things can be said about it, but so can not so good things. Like, when your nice white jeans have a stain of uncertain origin (but likely doggy related). Or when your black jeans are fading nicely, which means they can no longer be passed off as "dressy". So, since Saturday night was the "company Christmas party", which we weren't necessarily going to attend, but ended up going to at the last minute, and since a wander through my closet really didn't turn up anything much that I could wear - I have a lot of really fancy dresses and such, but that would have been "overdressed". Anyway, to avoid rambling here.... I didn't really have anything to wear, so I went out and bought myself new clothes. Now, I don't mind shopping at thrift stores. Yes, even for clothing. I love a bargain. And besides, I also like to patronize the Salvation Army thrift store because in my opinion, they do good work. Anyway - in this case, though, I worked on convincing myself that it was OK to buy myself something new. So, I went over to Walmart.

I went into the clothing department, and I saw a lady hanging up a few things.... I asked her if she would mind helping me - I didn't want to spend a lot of time finding where they had the not too expensive pants in my size (I'm petite, really - also known as short) Anyway, she was very helpful - guiding me around. After selecting pants, I mentioned that I might be interested in looking at tops, too (thinking about the selection of tops in my closet, which, while I have a lot, I'm tired of wearing some of them - think it's time to get brutal with the closet cleaning....)So - we looked at a few tops. And there was a dress for $7. I tried on the pants - they fit. I tried on the first top - it was on sale under $10. (these are Cdn dollars, btw - but I dont' think it matters...) Anyway, it looked great, silver glittery coloured, but was a tank style - I don't have my black Charlotte's Web shawl knit yet, so that was out for the Christmas Party, but it was too good looking and too great a price to put back..... Second was a turtleneck in fuschia. Now, I'm very fussy about how turtle neck sweaters have to look. For a while now, the style has been loose, baggy turtlenecks. Or at least, that is all I've seen for some time now. Short people should not wear baggy on top.... Well, *this* short person definitely shouldn't.... So, I've been wanting to own a turtleneck for quite some time now......

The price was $18. It fit. It was worth it. BUT - I decided that it was going under the tree from DH to me..... So, I'll be wrapping it and putting it under the tree.

The $7. dress - now, that was a bit of a let down. It fit. It was a steal. It looked good. It was button front. The placement of two of the buttons was such that if I wore it anywhere - it would need a pin. That is too much trouble - sadly. If it weren't for that gaping bit - I would have snapped it up.

Right - the third top - Again, it was under $10 on sale. One of those sweater/cami things that look two piece but are only one piece. Combined with the pants - (which were also $18) - Made me look like a million bucks!!!!

So, I left home working on convincing myself that I was worth the price of some new clothes, and came home feeling like I was DEFINITELY worth it!!! :)

As for the party - well, we figured that if we had to go, that at least we could leave early. We got home at 1:30 am. It was much better than we thought it would be....

Sunday - well, let's see - between sleeping in, and the usual Sunday stuff...I didn't get much knitting done. Some, just not much.

So, I'm behind. But I realized - I have enough notes done on the mittens that I should be able to get started on typing the pattern up anyway. And, since these things are to keep DH's hands warm while snow blowing and stuff this winter, it's probably a good thing that it hasn't snowed for a while, and that the temperatures have been hovering around the freezing point lately..... :) Very mild temperatures....

Oh, and one more thing that happened at the Christmas party - Found out another of DH's co-workers is going to be a daddy - soon!! So once I get the mittens done, and the crocheted Christmas Tree skirt (hopefully, before Christmas day at least!!!), I'll be starting another baby blanket in January or February.... ( the baby is due in March)

No pics, but a report....

When I was knitting the first double knit mitten, I got just past the cuff into the hand, and made a nasty mistake, that somehow ended up with an unrecoverable dropped stitch. I ended up frogging (ripping out) the whole thing, and starting over. I finished mitten number one on Wednesday, just before leaving for my knitting group meeting. (OK, technically, the ends still need some weaving in, so it really isn't finished) Everyone there loved it, and there were some requests for pattern :) I cast on and knit the second cuff while there. Came home, did a couple rows before bed. Next day (last night) tried to do the next row, something wasn't working right, tinked, fiddled, ended up frogging and starting over.....

Seems that these mittens are doomed to be done that way, lol. At least for me....

Oh, and I can see some things in the prototype that will (hopefully) not make it into the pattern. They aren't noticable enough to change for DH's mittens - he loves the first one already - but they aren't going to be repeated indefinitely!

Will post my progress pictures next week - and with a little luck, will have the pattern in a condition to be test knit/shared anyway very soon.

Book Review, sort of

I haven't done a book review since - um, I think I did one after grade-school, probably junior high, but I don't think I did one in high school - so, I haven't done a book review in a very long time. I'm sure that this one isn't going to be great.... I dont' even recall the proper formula for writing a book review. Not to mention, back then, the book reviews I did do were for fiction.

What book do I want to review??? Well, a library book. That I *must* own one day. When I can afford it. Or, maybe I'll stick it on my wish list :) DH *did* say that I had to have more than one thing on my Christmas wish list this year....

Oh, right - the book. It is called.... Wendy Knits. This is a great book. - Oh, wait - I guess I better do the disclaimer thing. I'm not getting anything for promoting this book, and anything I say about it is my own opinion. You, the reader of my blog, are of course, free to disagree with me. But check the book out first - it really *is* a great book.

So. I've been reading it - not cover to cover, but I did try to start out that way. I've been flipping through it. There are wonderful sharings/stories about Wendy's knitting history. About friends and family. Very heartwarming stories. There are patterns. There are stories behind the patterns. Why they were created, how they came to be. The level of knitting ability - There are patterns very suitable to the beginner. Very well written. There are patterns for the more advanced knitter. Very well written. In fact, the "easy" patterns are appealing to the advanced knitter - they aren't some "written geared only to of interest to the 20 something crowd" that seems to be the "rule" for most newer knitting books I've seen lately. They are patterns that the advanced knitter might want to try for those "mindless take along" projects. And even the advanced patterns - they are classic styling, so they would appeal to all ages. And they are well written, so that even the adventurous beginner should be able to accomplish them.

I totally love this book, and would recommend adding it to anyone's pattern library.

Way better than any other knitting book that I've seen published in the last few years.

Most of the newer books I've seen, via the public library, are ones that I would recommend others read that way - Stitch N Bitch, for example, has some great instruction for people who've never knit before, and don't have someone to show them how. But the patterns - my opinion - fine if you are 20 something. The Mason Dixon book - stick with reading their blog. That is accessible for free. Why pay for it by buying the book? The patterns? Not sure at all who they'd appeal to. Yarn Harlot? Same thing. Read the blog. But Wendy Knits? BUY IT!!!

Ok, so part of my line of thinking has a lot to do with my budget.... I can't afford to run out and buy any book "hot off the press". I go to the library first. I have bought books as a result of seeing them in the library. There are others that I am glad I didn't buy - I would have found myself angry and resentful about spending money and getting "ripped off". I have bought some fiction books by authors that I consider favourites. I recommend these books to many people. I have bought the odd knitting book. A Gathering of Lace, for example. That is an excellent book. I've also bought, from the library book sale, A Knitter's Almanac, by Elizabeth Zimmerman. I recommend her books - as well as the Barbara Walker Treasuries. I haven't been able to afford the treasuries yet, but they are ones I want one day. I've also bought Marianne Kinzel's First Book of Modern Lace Knitting, as well as the Second Book of Modern Lace Knitting. My library only had one of those, but I had to have both. I should also mention, in fairness, that the Modern Lace books are co-owned by my sister. As is Gathering of Lace. I also picked up, at the library book sale, an Alice Starmore book. That one is one I don't like. One of the ones that had I paid full price for, I would have resented wasting the money. I also bought a book of sweater patterns from a clearance table at a book store. I know now why it was on the clearance table. Ug. Ly. sweaters.

I definitely have to add the Wendy Knits book to my collection. I'm also going to have to start reading her blog - Something I think I've done on occasion, but not quite sure why I haven't been a regular reader until now. I also believe I've probably "bumped into" Wendy on some of the lists, but for some reason (likely to do with selfishness) haven't investigated sooner.....

So. There you have it. My first book review and recommendation.

I remembered!!!

One of the not craft things I was going to talk about :)

There are words... words that I use, that I hear, that I know - but don't truly know....

You talk with people, you use a word correctly, but it turns out someone else isn't sure of what you mean, and they ask. You suddenly realize, that you *know* the word, but you don't know how to explain it, how to define it. So you look it up....

Or, you just suddenly decide yourself that you don't know really what it means. Maybe a little bit of self-doubt... "am I using this word right, or am I making a fool of myself???". So, you look it up....

The second example happened to me recently - though I was reading the word, not saying it.... Was pretty sure I knew what it was, but I googled anyway. Found a neat write up at that wi-pedia thingy site.

The word was "bling". Or "bling-bling". I kind of thought it meant the glittery jewellery stuff that people wear. I was pretty much right. Though I learned a few other things....

First, I already sort of knew about the part where a word (any slange word, not just bling) starts out as a cultural slang, then finds its way into everyday conversation, then the originating culture stops using it because it is no longer their own. This also happened with a lot of music - rock for example.

I can just imagine how all those hip young street type people felt when "little old ladies" started knitting with "Bling Bling".... (a name of Bernat eyelash type yarn).

Now, taking a bit of an aside here, I know it isn't just little old ladies who knit, but that vision still seems to persist. For some reason. I don't know why. What I do know is that even my own husband once told me (over 12 years ago, at least) that I was "too young to be doing all that knitting stuff like little old ladies". How did I fix him? Well, I started making things for him.... He still proudly shows off the afghan I designed just for him, and loves telling people how popular the free pattern for it is on the net.... I really need to get going on fixing some socks for him, too... he gave me three pairs that all need the heel fixed - I told him I'd get to them when I can (need to figure out how I'm going to do it, since I think that re-knitting an entire pair is easier than understanding how to darn thesocks - other than, saying "darn you socks!! why did you get holes??? ) and he said, that was fine, as long as he had them back for the winter....Guess I better move them up the "to do list"...

But, the neatest part that I learned about bling, is that it doesn't always have to be jewellery. Turns out that I've been wearin' my Bling for YEARS.

I quote from the wi-pedia thing site:
"In its essence, the term refers to the exterior manifestation of one's interior state of character, normally displayed through various forms of visual stimuli."
So, by always wearing either a kitty shirt, or kitty earrings, or kitty sockies, or kitty *something* somewhere on my body (yeah, ok, watches and earrings and pins count as jewellery) I've been "hip" for a long time :)

Best laid plans....

I think I used that title before.... But still, I planned on not starting any more projects. I really did. Then, life happened.... In the form of snow. We're into full winter here. Lots of the white stuff falling...blowing around into drifts. Which is a good thing, as far as my opinion about Christmas. I know, in the southern hemisphere, there isn't snow at Christmas time. And I know, in places like Mexico and other warm places, there isn't snow at Christmas time. But still, I guess I'm a romantic - I like the images of sleighs and snow and snowmen, and white puffy stuff on trees. And houses with smoke curling out of the chimney....

Anyway .... There is a drawback, of course. In order to have that white soft fluffy stuff, it needs to be cold. I don't like cold. And, even though those picture-postcard images always have nice clear walkways and rutted lanes.... somehow, the snow just doesn't ever seem to co-operate and not fall on walkways and lanes and roads and such... So, one needs to shovel. Or use a snowblower. Which is what DH did this weekend in our yard. And came in the house in pain - - - his store-bought mittens just didn't cut it against the icy winds....

So, I started knitting him some nice warm mittens. Double knit style. I've been wanting to do that for a while now. I'm chicken scratching out my directions, and with a little luck, will get them typed up soon. I hope.... So, I haven't done much work on the crocheted tree skirt, though. Or on any of the socks.... but I took pictures this morning anyway. Now, I need to try to describe something here. On our camera (and I'm sure many of you "pros" with digital cameras don't need to read this bit, but for those who want to learn) we have various settings for different conditions. Among them, there is a couple of night settings. I learned the hard way - well, someone told me about it but long after the fact - that you pretty much need a tripod or something solid, or a super steady hand, because it is like a long exposure, and if you don't hold the camera very super still, you get a fuzzy picture. So anyway, I've discovered that there is a night people picture setting - which you don't need quite such a steady hand as the regular night setting, and a candle light setting. Now, the candlelight setting is a good one for the low light indoors - BUT - it distorts the colour somewhat. The people at night setting is good, but again, it takes some time, and needs some steadyness. Of course, you've seen my efforts there, with some of the slightly fuzzy pictures I've been sharing.

One of the other interesting things - when it takes the picture, I have the view screen on the back to set up the shot, and it blacks that out, it flicker-flashes the light, then it tells me on the viewscreen, "capturing", then "processing". Now, the other interesting part.... Well, remember a picture I did a few months ago, of the flying squirrel? Well, the same kind of thing happened there - while it was "capturing", the squirrel moved, and for some reason, it came out as a ghost image. Other times, I get something like this:

That is a lovely picture of Mica's collar. It was supposed to be a lovely picture of the mitten.... That was what I saw in the viewscreen before it went all black....

This is a blurry sample, too....I was anxious not to get a second picture of Mica, so I kind of moved a little.....

I guess then, I should do some of the better pictures of the mitten. Outside view, inside view, and from the top.... it is hard to see exactly how I do the double knitting, when I'm not actually doing it, but it is the two yarns together method- first knit a stitch with one yarn, then move both yarns forward ready to purl, and purl the next stitch with the second colour, move them both back to knit, use the first colour again.... Every so often, (or as the pattern demands, so you can make pictures) you switch which colour you knit or purl with. This makes it look interesting, as well as anchors the two halves (colour a and colour b, in this case dark grey and light grey) together. Otherwise, you could make a pocket using this method, or (with a slightly different starting method) two socks at the same time, one inside the other.

Now for the basket weave sock. I really really really like this yarn. I know, I've told you before, but it is from a grab bag from Ram Wools. I just hope that they start carrying this yarn on a regular basis - Um, yeah, like I need to buy more sock yarn.... or any yarn.... or.... But I love this colourway, and I love the feel of the yarn. I'm dragging my heels (sorry, no pun intendend) on knitting these socks, because I know I've committed in my head to making them for DH. I keep reminding myself that the second grab bag I bought, I'll make the socks for me... it's a blue yarn. I haven't been able to keep up with every grab bag - between them selling out fast, me not getting to the store, and not much spare cash anyway... But, if they carry the yarn as a regular item, then I can get to pick the colours that I want to, when it is convenient to me. :)

Now, that tree skirt thing. I'm not sure why the colour didn't come out good on the skirt picture - I know, it is still small, still "in progress" after all, and besides it is for a table top tree, and doens't need to be huge - but the picture of the yarn with label is more of the true colour.

Well.... That's the post and picture sharing for today. I keep thinking of really cool stuff that I want to vent about or wax poetic about or blog about in the evenings, or at bedtime, or during the day when I am out doing errands, but by morning - all I can think about is sharing my craft stuff. Oh, well.... Maybe one of these days....I'll talk about something more interesting.... :) Ok, maybe not "more interesting", but at least, more diverse.
